Job Title: CNC Machine OperatorJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to support an advanced manufacturing organization specializing in high-performance composite solutions for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. In this role, you set up and operate CNC machinery, interpret technical documentation, and ensure that quality, safety, and efficiency standards are consistently met throughout the production process.
Responsibilities
- Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, and locations of surfaces, while interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tool attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and pushers to meet job requirements.
- Load feed mechanisms by lifting and positioning stock accurately and safely.
- Verify machine settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, ensuring adherence to applicable international standards.
- Maintain product specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations, taking measurements, and detecting malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot machining processes by adjusting and reprogramming controls, identifying worn tools, and sharpening or replacing tools as needed.
- Follow established quality assurance procedures and processes to ensure consistent product quality.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering strictly to all safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment by following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to maintain production continuity.
- Complete production and quality logs accurately and in a timely manner.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading relevant technical publications.
- Support organizational goals by taking ownership of new and varied tasks and seeking opportunities to add value to job outcomes.
- Assist with and direct the cutting, machining, and configuration of complex block layouts prior to bonding to achieve final dimensional requirements.
- Adhere to Business Management System requirements and established operating procedures.
Essential Skills- Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and lathes, including setup and changeover.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Proficiency in interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Experience with multi-axis machining (3+ axis).
- Familiarity with tool paths, feeds, and speeds for various materials and operations.
- Knowledge of quality control and inspection processes in a production environment.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with process improvement on CNC equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, tape measures, and cutting tools safely and effectively.
- Experience with machine operating, fabrication, and machining in a production setting.
- Capability to inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications.
- Ability to assist and train or mentor other machine operators.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience working with fiberglass or composite materials.
- Familiarity with advanced composite manufacturing processes.
- Comfort working with a range of machining and cutting tools in a structured production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Effective communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to expand technical skills.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.60 - $27.60/hr.
