What is the opportunity?

As a Specialist, Operations, Tax Operations, you will support client's year-end tax reporting requirements with Canadian tax authorities, including the CRA and Revenu Quebec (RQ). You will also be responsible for executing and maintaining withholding tax remittances and reconciliations with the CRA and RQ.

The role involves working closely with business partners and vendors to schedule, coordinate, track, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) for regulatory and client experience enhancements related to registered tax slips annually. You will also identify and escalate issues, risks, and exceptions as appropriate.

You will independently manage and resolve complex client inquiries, seeking guidance when required, while ensuring compliance with established departmental procedures and controls.

What will you do?

  • Perform withholding tax reconciliations between internal reports and CRA remittances on a daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual basis. Analyze reports, investigate exceptions, and resolve discrepancies in accordance with regulatory and firm requirements.

  • Execute daily oversight of complex, exception-based processes, including investigating breaks, performing root cause analysis, and implementing follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Liaise with internal and external partners to obtain information and resolve operational issues.

  • Maintain detailed records of reconciliation results, exceptions, resolutions, and follow-up action to support effective tracking auditability.

  • Identify process and system enhancements to reduce risk and improve efficiency and participate in testing and implementation.

  • Maintain and update desk operating procedures to reflect current processes and requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years of securities, banking, technology and/or job specific industry experience

  • 1+ year prior securities, banking, technology industry and/or job specific related industry

  • Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Word, Excel and Access

  • Experience with T4RIF/T4RSP/T4A/T4FHSA/TFSA/RL 1/RL 2/RL 32/NR4 tax production

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment

  • Strong problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception-based complex processes
