Position Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position based at our Durham, NC headquarters and is not eligible for remote work. Candidates outside the area must be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Green Zone Recycling is hiring a reliable, detail-oriented Administrative & Support Specialist to support daily office operations, field operations, and human resources functions at our Durham headquarters. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, solving problems, supporting multiple departments, and helping a growing company run efficiently.

The right candidate will be professional, dependable, technologically comfortable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and strong communication.

Key Responsibilities Operations Support
  • Initiate, coordinate, and track tow and removal requests.
  • Monitor operational communications through WhatsApp and other platforms related to collection sites, competitor activity, site maintenance, and field operations.
  • Enter, update, and maintain operational data in company management systems.
  • Review daily operational reports and communicate high-priority issues or action items to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support for operational initiatives, special projects, and process improvements.
Administrative & Human Resources Support
  • Manage incoming company correspondence, including mail, email, voicemail, social media inquiries, and general communications.
  • Maintain inventory for office supplies, warehouse supplies, administrative materials, and employee uniforms.
  • Order, configure, and distribute employee equipment, including computers, keys, credentials, and other onboarding resources.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Enter and maintain employee information in payroll and HR systems.
  • Ensure employee documents are distributed timely through payroll and HR platforms.
  • Maintain employee records securely and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Support compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, payroll/HR systems, and company management platforms.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Previous administrative, office support, HR support, or operations support experience preferred.
Schedule & Work Environment
