Summary
Work is guided by established sanitation routines, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules. Tasks are routine, straightforward, and physical in nature.
Decisions/actions generally affect the cleanliness and maintenance of designated facility areas. Refers facility maintenance issues and safety hazards to higher levels or appropriate management. Responsible for own time, effort, and adherence to sanitation standards. Deals directly with immediate supervisor and facility team members; engages in routine exchanges regarding cleaning status or supply needs; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Performs thorough cleaning of all office premises, restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Ensures all facility areas are sanitized and maintained to high hygiene standards, particularly in kitchen and consumption areas.
  • Manages waste disposal, including emptying trash bins, recycling containers, and managing large disposal pickups.
  • Restocks essential janitorial supplies, including paper towels, soap, and cleaning agents, in all restrooms and kitchens.
  • Performs routine floor care, such as waxing, polishing, or buffing, as scheduled or required.
  • Reports any facility maintenance needs, cleanliness issues, or safety hazards immediately to the facilities manager.
  • Assists with minor setup for site events, such as moving tables or chairs, to support facility cleanliness.
  • Moves furniture, maintains office equipment, completes minor building systems repairs, completes minor construction projects, etc.
  • May assist in the set up and installation of building equipment to support manufacturing lines.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safe chemical handling.
  • Basic knowledge in operating and maintaining janitorial equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and scrubbers.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high hygiene standards across the facility.
  • Ability to effectively communicate maintenance needs and facility issues.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Basic knowledge of methods used in the routine maintenance and repair of office and manufacturing facilities.
  • Proof of required operator or driver's licenses and / or certifications where applicable.
  • Knowledge of quality standards.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties require ongoing light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
  • Duties of the position may require periodic heavy manual effort and exertion including climbing, lifting, pulling and moving objects over 20 pounds.
