Location: Jackson, MS
Pay Rate: Salary $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
First Student is currently hiring for an Operations Supervisor. In this role you will focus on supervising day to day operations of our buses. As well as schedule the maintenance and fueling of the buses!

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates and promotes a safe work environment at all times
  • Insures drivers have the daily paperwork necessary to complete their routes. Insures completed charter paperwork is received by the Location Manager for processing.
  • Coordinates field trips by the assignment of personnel and vehicles.
  • Under location managers direction, assists drivers with establishing route descriptions.
  • Ensures that drivers follow through with scheduled fueling and mechanical work
  • Observes safety practices of personnel and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Assists Location Manager during training session and kick off meetings.
  • Attend disciplinary meetings with location manager
  • May interact with school officials on routine matters at smaller bus locations. May drive bus on occasion if necessary. Assists dispatcher when necessary.
  • May manage small locations under the overall direction of the Location Manager
  • Ensures that routes meet state, local, and vendor requirements.
  • Reviews time sheets prior to submission to payroll.

Qualifications/ Minimum Experience or Skills Required
  • 3-5 years' experience in transportation industry.
  • Good supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Good Interpersonal and computer skills
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and in the surrounding company facility outside the office (e.g., bus parking lot); utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • Must be able to drive company or personal vehicle to deliver training in multiple locations.
  • The job is performed under temperature extremes and low-level risk.
  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to, significant lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing, frequent stopping, kneeling and crouching.
