Job description

Job Summary

The Operations Leadership Trainee position is designed for intermediate level candidates who are interested in continuing a management career in the field of operations and supply chain management. The Operations Leadership Trainee will have the opportunity to experience each segment in our day-to-day operations from inbound to outbound. Some of these areas may include but are not limited to Receiving, Picking, Packing, Consolidating, Shipping, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance and Returns. In each area, you will be challenged to develop new ideas and tools to not only support the growth of our business but also ensure that the best service is being delivered to our customers. The goal of this position is to assume a managerial role in our Baytown, TX Distribution Center upon successfully completing the training period. In your management role you will be held accountable for the day-to-day decisions regarding the input, movement, process, and output of operations to ensure increased quality, inventory accuracy and service. This position is responsible for providing clear and frequent communication to various teams regarding employee performance, company policies and procedures. An essential function of the manager is to motivate employees to keep pace with our explosive growth while maintaining challenging deadlines.

  • Directly manage up to 20 Associates 
  • Develop practical solutions to problems without sacrificing quality 
  • Meet department’s daily, weekly, and monthly goals of the distribution center 
  • Achieve high performance standards while coaching, training, and developing employees on best practices of our business 
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment which is always adapting to better serve our customers 
  • Analyze opportunities for growth, cutting costs, reducing damages, and improving efficiencies 
  • Continually improving productivity targets and process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.
Experience
  • 2-5 years in a proven supervisory or management role 
Education

•Associate degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
