Remote Commissioning Operations Specialist

Role Overview
The Remote Commissioning Operations Specialist is an experienced technical resource within the Commissioning Support Center (CSC), providing real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and operational support for power plant commissioning activities and early-stage plant operations. This role supports commissioning milestones, analyzes plant performance, coordinates responses to operational events, and serves as a key interface between site teams, engineering, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Monitor real-time plant data, alarms, and trends; identify abnormal conditions, risks, and performance issues.
  • Provide remote operational support, event triage, first-level response, and decision support to site teams and stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning activities including first fire, tuning, optimization, performance validation, and reliability runs.
  • Conduct diagnostics, analyze operational data, document findings, and support root-cause investigations.
  • Coordinate technical communications, escalations, and response activities across sites, engineering, and project teams.
  • Develop reports, support data collection and transfer activities, and contribute to training and onboarding initiatives.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement efforts focused on monitoring processes, operational standards, reliability, and CSC performance.

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in commissioning, plant operations, startup support, remote monitoring, or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, balance-of-plant systems, DCS platforms, plant control systems, and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to interpret alarms, trends, data historians, and operational data to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in time-sensitive environments and provide technical guidance to others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, electronic mail required.
