What role you will play in our team
  • As the optimization engineer for the CCS100 team, you will be responsible for the CCS optimization models at the core of our products. This includes the development, improvements and maintenance on the models.
  • Lead in translating new requirements from the business into model constraints and objectives. Rapidly iterate on model updates to help the team achieve realistic results.
  • Provide technical optimization support to the analysts using the product. Help debug infeasibilities and explain unexpected behavior

What you will do
  • Work with business to understand the system constraints and incorporate them into the model. Ask detailed follow up questions to discover the real system constraints
  • Work with the data scientists on the team to develop and improve surrogate models for the non-linear parts of the CCS system
  • Update of existing models to incorporate multiple timescales
  • Build out optimization diagnostic tools to support self service debugging of model inputs
  • Conduct simulations and experiments to validate optimization models and strategies
  • Tuning of the Gurobi optimization parameters to improve model performance
  • Simplification of solution algorithms to improve model sustainability
  • Apply your model to real business problems and present results to stakeholders

About you
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, or a related field with a focus on numerical optimization
  • 3+ years of combined experience in technical roles working on optimization or mathematical modeling. Must be able to work on the optimization models independently with limited coaching and technical support
  • Demonstrated python programming experience
  • Good structured communication with ability to present complex ideas to a non-technical audience or describe detailed designs to a technical audience
  • Demonstrated ability to learn & adapt in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications/Experience
    • Experience with the Gurobipy package
    • Experience in working within software development teams where optimization models are part of the product
