Operations Manager - Manufacturing &Packaging

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager provides overall leadership and direction for both the

Compounding (Production) and Packaging departments to ensure efficient, compliant, and

cost-effective operations. This position oversees staff, production planning, and equipment

performance to achieve company objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity in

a cGMP-regulated environment. The role drives cross-departmental coordination,

continuous improvement, and employee development to support site-wide operational

excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Development

• • Lead both Production and Packaging teams by communicating expectations, setting

measurable goals, and ensuring alignment with company standards and strategic

objectives.

• • Coach, train, and mentor employees; develop cross-functional skills and succession

readiness.

• • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and recommend merit

increases and recognition awards as appropriate.

• • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across

shifts and departments.

Operational Oversight

• • Oversee daily production and packaging schedules; allocate labor and resources to

meet output and service goals.

• • Coordinate with the Plant Manager and other functional leaders to ensure smooth

product flow from compounding through final packaging.

• • Monitor key process parameters and workflow efficiencies, implementing

improvements and corrective actions where needed.

• • Maintain visibility on throughput, yield, and downtime; track and communicate

performance metrics to senior leadership.

Quality Compliance

• • Ensure adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and company quality standards across all

production and packaging operations.

• • Lead departmental quality initiatives, reinforcing ;right-first-time; and continuous

improvement principles.

• • Maintain accurate and complete production documentation and ensure readiness for

internal and external audits.

• • Accept total responsibility for product quality across both production and packaging

operations.

Equipment, Maintenance Safety

• • Oversee operation, cleaning, and changeovers of equipment; coordinate maintenance

activities and repairs.

• • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and process

improvements.

• • Promote and enforce a safe, clean, and organized work environment consistent with

EHS standards and 5S principles.

Data, Reporting & Analysis

• • Compile, analyze, and present production and packaging performance data.

• • Identify trends, opportunities, and bottlenecks to support data-driven decision-

making and cost optimization.

Qualifications:

• • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline (Engineering, Manufacturing, or

Operations Management preferred), or equivalent relevant experience.

• • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing and/or packaging leadership

within a regulated industry.

• • Strong working knowledge of cGMPs, production planning, and process control.

• • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automated production and packaging

equipment.

• • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems

preferred.

• • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
