Job description

a.i. solutions is looking for a highly-motivated Deputy Program Manager with a passion for aerospace. This person will work in a team environment as the secondary customer point of contact for all spacecraft operations activities in support of U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command’s Innovation and Prototyping Directorate at Kirtland AFB, NM. This individual will serve as a key leader on the program and will help the Program Manager execute and guide the program to ensure all customer requirements are met. The successful candidate should possess significant knowledge of management, operations, process control, inspections, quality assurance, training, budgeting, supervision of personnel, and systems command and control. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission of always meeting customer requirements and usually exceeding their expectations.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Act as PM in PM’s absence.
  • Prepare and guide program reviews of all space mission support activities for PM approval.
  • Lead planning and readiness activities for all program pre-launch missions, to include supervising pre-launch Mission Leads and ensuring proper and timely crew stand up and readiness activities such as exercises and rehearsals.
  • Supervise and guide Mission Assurance and Quality reviews both internally and with government customer.
  • Supervise the execution of the program Risk Management Plan as related to satellite operations.
  • Supervise and lead the Training Department for all aspects of satellite operator training activities.
  • Assess anomaly or operator error resolution processes and effectiveness of resolution actions, providing recommendations and advice to program leadership regarding satellite faults, ground system failures, or operations issues.
  • Review and guide in-depth trend analysis of operational systems, mission issues and risks, workarounds, and collected/disseminated lessons learned.
  • Perform personnel management actions as required, including supervision, timekeeping administration, performance reviews, assisting in hiring personnel, and assisting team with professional development.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for technical or business process improvement.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives and business development, opportunity capture, and/or proposal generation efforts.
  • Support flexible hours including potential night and weekend work on an on-call basis.
  • Travel on occasion as required, estimated to be 10%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, management or related discipline.
  • 15 years of directly related experience in operations, program leadership, and personnel management or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems, IS09001/AS9100.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Desired Background:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, management, or related discipline.
  • 20+ years of experience in operations, program leadership, and personnel management or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in an operational leadership and management field.
  • Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values or opinions of others.
  • Proactivity in identifying and addressing challenges to include innovations that result in positive organizational impact.
