Job description

Position Information

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must maintain authorization throughout employment. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
This position is contingent upon the availability of sufficient funding.

Position Title Program Coordiantor Position Summary
The position is responsible for providing direct support for the coordination of activities and management of the day-to-day operations for the Social Justice Fellows program externally funded projects/programs as assigned by the Social Justice Fellows Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating project goals/objectives.
  • Works with Director to coordinate up to fifteen (15) Social Justice Scholar Fellows and up to forty (40) Social Justice Associates.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day programmatic activities.
  • Compiles and analyzes assessment data and develops reports.
  • Assists with the coordination of up to five (5) Social Justice Faculty Mentor projects
  • Works with the Internal Evaluation and Program Monitoring Manager to plan annual programmatic evaluations.
  • Assists with data collection activities and manages the storage of collected data. This will include developing and maintaining databases of program participants and activities for reporting and tracking purposes.
  • Coordinates and oversees the logistics for programmatic events including monthly Social Justice Colloquia and orientation events.
  • Maintains project budget, order supplies, and monitor expenditures for program activities.
  • Works with Director to coordinate alternative spring break experience.
  • Manages budgets for all external grants including (Just Futures, Gilead, Commerce Club, Quarterman-Keller, Kirkland, Truth Racial Healing and Transformation, Anonymous Funder, Title III, and all others supporting the Social Justice Program.
  • Works with Scholarship Office to ensure application of scholarships to student accounts.
  • Collaborates with PIs to develop yearly budget reports and annual program activity reports to submit via agency on-line system.
  • Works with stakeholders to ensure that the activities meet the needs of the project and complies with the requirements of the funding source.
  • Develops creative ways to promote the programs activities and outcomes including, but not limited to, branding and maintaining the program social media and web presence and developing creative advertising for all events and activities.
  • Works with SJ Director to identify special opportunities including summer research and Social Justice Advocacy internships.
  • Serves as liaison between SJ office and internship partners.
  • In the absence of the Director, represents the program at Community Engagements.
  • Supervises graduate students and work study students.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience in grants budget management and program management or coordination or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent interpersonal, record keeping, organizational, and customer service skills are required. This position requires demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, interact in a diverse community, and function in an active daily environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills required; demonstrated ability to prepare routine correspondence, proofread documents, and effectively represent the department to the Spelman community. The incumbent must be able to read and interpret documents such as policy guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and application forms.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database software. Incumbent should have experience operating within LAN systems and Web-based internet environments.
