Job description

AMTRACO is a global holding company headquartered in Franksville, WI, that manages the shared services of Marketing, HR, IT, and Finance for its operating units. The four distinct operating units owned by AMTRACO are:
EPSI - a distribution company servicing the surface finishing industry with presence in all major global markets.
STM - a manufacturer of pressure sensitive adhesive tapes
FAST - a distributor of tapes and related products for the framing, architectural, signs, and trophy markets.
SBM - a commercial real estate company that buys, develops, and leases commercial real estate.
Summary/Objective: The person in this role operates machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines and punches that cut shape and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes and structures, apply coatings to racks by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions
  • Operates fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures parts dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from parts.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Verifies conformance of finished part to specifications.
  • Follow company safety procedures and embrace culture of safety within the machine shop.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required

Work Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing facility, with drill presses, metal cutting, and other industrial equipment. Noise levels fluctuate from moderate to high. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must wear appropriate personal safety protection equipment. This equipment will vary based upon the work location and type of work being performed but often will include safety glasses and sometimes may include protective clothing.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lifting of items weighing up to 75-pounds. Moving from place to place within the manufacturing facility; reaching for items above and below desk level.
Required Education and Experience:
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. 1-5 years experience operating machine shop equipment.
  3. Basic knowledge in math and decimal places.
  4. Knowledge in usage of gages, calipers, measuring tools, and clean sharp edges.
  5. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet production quotas
