Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Manager for Assembly and Facility Operations to join our team in Stennis Space Center, MS. This position will be responsible for the safety, cost, quality, delivery, and productivity of the RS-25 large liquid rocket engine and pump assembly team and will directly report to the Site General Manager. This position will work closely with multiple functional areas to optimize material flow, equipment, and workforce requirements within the area to meet or exceed daily business objectives. The position will provide leadership to a team of first line managers, facilities engineers, and touch labor teams across multiple shifts. The focus will be on working with other departments to drive continuous improvement, remove waste, and cost from assembly and facility processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage the team to achieve program production targets within budget and on schedule.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company and program strategic goals.
  • Oversee the assembly process, identifying opportunities for improvement in efficiency and output.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies, including ITAR, EAR, and CUI guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, EH&S, Logistics/Warehouse, Integrated Master Scheduling/MRP, and
  • Program Management, to optimize overall performance.
  • Manage resource allocation, including equipment and personnel, to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles throughout the assembly operations.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to the operations team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of operations management experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior operations management experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior operations management experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 10 years of experience leading and managing an operations team.
  • Experience within aerospace industry.
  • Experience with liquid rocket engine assembly.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles and working with root cause problem solving methodologies.
  • Understanding and utilization of continuous improvement practices.
