The Operations Manager - Matting Solutions will oversee the operations of a yard within a defined coverage area, ensuring accurate inventory management and exceptional customer service. This role involves managing Matting inventory, quotes, yard logistics and freight, and maintaining precise billing and inventory records.

The Manager will engage with customers, particularly UR branch areas, to promote and service different types of mats and other products. Formerly YAK ACCESS, Matting Solutions is now part of the United Rentals Team and is one of North America's leading providers of right-of-way access solutions. From pipelines to power lines to civil projects, we offer unmatched expertise in total access planning, clearing, site work and restoration services.

What you'll do: Yard Operations Management: Supervise all operations within the yard, ensuring smooth and efficient processes. Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring all items are correctly logged and tracked. Ensure the yard is organized, safe, and operates within compliance standards.

Oversee yard profit and loss statement, ensuring effective leadership and cost control Complete and receive opportunities from the sales team for quotes on products and services. Provide finalized quotes for opportunities to the sales team or directly to customers, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and tailor quotes to meet those needs.

Customer Engagement: Visit all UR sites within the designated area to build and maintain strong customer relationships. Promote our local mat services and products, discussing various mat types and their applications. Cater to the specific needs of UR branch areas and other regional customers, providing tailored solutions and exceptional service.

Logistics Coordination: Oversee the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring all processes are performed safely and efficiently. Coordinate with drivers and logistics personnel to ensure timely and accurate delivery and receipt of goods. Inventory and Billing Management: Ensure all inventory movements are accurately recorded in the system.

Manage billing inputs, ensuring all tickets and records are correct and up-to-date. Monitor and report on inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock is maintained to meet customer demands. Leadership & Supervision: Motivate, coach and train personnel.

Employee communication and satisfaction, ensure compliance with processes and policies and provide guidance and coaching. Schedule personnel and maintain accurate and up-to-date time & attendance records. Resolve issues where staff needs assistance - following the established escalation process.

Coordinate new hire on-boarding and employee on-going training. Maintain productive labor relations with union steward and ensure compliance with labor agreement in force. Provide regular performance feedback.

Reward and recognize employees to reinforce positive behaviors. Promptly develop and present individualized Performance Improvement Plans as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred 3-5 years proven experience in yard operations management or a similar role Strong understanding of inventory management and logistics coordination Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to travel regularly within a 200-mile radius Proficiency in relevant billing and inventory management systems Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
