Job description

This position is located in Langley, BC. 

General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Materials Handler / Mezzanine is responsible for the safe and efficient movement and flow of raw materials, finished goods, and semi-finished goods into and out of the production area and mezzanine.

The Materials Handler / Mezzanine must be fully familiar with work order requirements, packaging documentation, production data collection forms, and applicable operating procedures.

The position is also responsible for performing all applicable Operator and Utility Handler duties and ensuring that all company safety, quality, housekeeping, and operational procedures are followed and maintained at all times.

Education Requirements / Qualifications

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a qualified and licensed forklift and electric pallet jack operator.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
  • Must possess the skills and knowledge required to perform Utility Handler duties.
  • Must be willing and physically able to perform all essential job requirements.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Specific Responsibilities:

Materials Handling

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Mold Tech setup procedures and the resin supply system.
  • Understand and accurately complete work orders, Mold Tech change forms, packaging documents, and other required production documentation.
  • Perform color changes efficiently while minimizing scrap and accurately documenting results in accordance with color change procedures and KPI requirements.
  • Provide break coverage as required while supporting production continuity and minimizing downtime.
  • Complete railcar hookups in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the silo system, including material metering and distribution systems.
  • Monitor and manage regrind silo usage based on the requirements of individual injection molding machines.
  • Understand production processes and accurately complete required production data tracking.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of auxiliary equipment, including hot stampers and gasket installation equipment.
  • Accurately enter required information into Shoplogix.
  • Complete MII label printing and related processes accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure that the correct materials and packaging are available to support production requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate material flow throughout the production area and mezzanine.
  • Identify material shortages, process issues, or equipment concerns and communicate them promptly to the Shift Supervisor or Operations Manager.

Safety

  • Promote and support a strong safety culture throughout the production and mezzanine areas.
  • Coach team members on company safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns, hazards, and policy violations to the Shift Supervisor and/or Operations Manager.
  • Support the documentation of safety infractions and corrective actions as required.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement related to employee orientation, training, safety, and retention.
  • Lead by example by consistently following all company safety procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve workplace safety and operational efficiency.

Quality

  • Ensure operational and quality-related processes are followed and maintained.
  • Monitor production activities to help ensure products meet established quality standards.
  • Coach and support team members in following quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns to the Shift Supervisor, Quality Department, and/or Operations Manager.
  • Support corrective and continuous improvement activities related to product quality.
  • Ensure required quality and production documentation is completed accurately.

Job Growth Opportunities

Schedule:

This position follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, changing every two months:

  • Days: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Nights: 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

The rotation follows a 2-2-3 schedule:

  • Week 1: Work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days
  • Week 2: Off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days

This means every other weekend is off.

Pay:

The range for this position is $20.85 - 28.97 per hour. Exact salary offered will depend on candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and work location.
