SUMMARY

The Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for all shifts to assure we run safe and compliant operations producing quality products within budget. Running safe, efficient operations occurs through this role creating the necessary leadership, coaching and structure with SOPs/Work Instructions/checklist and training. Identifying bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, ensuring capability to reliably produce quality products is also essential. Measuring performance and preparing reports, notification of deficiencies, action items, communication across shifts, and follow-through are also critical to success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Comply with all EHS regulations and Sipcam Agro Solutions policies, and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Oversee life‑safety events e.g. LOTO, line breaking, confined space entry, hotwork, working from heights, etc.
  • Ensure production and quality targets are met.
  • Ensure regular safe start‑ups and shutdowns are documented and executed.
  • Assist with developing and executing operations training.
  • Manage general plant clean‑up.
  • Ensure operators complete, in a timely accurate manner required documents on their shift and reviewing them daily.
  • Analyze data (quality results, raw material analysis, etc.) provided to determine if adjustments are needed to maintain/maximize operating conditions.
  • Troubleshoot process equipment and convey any issues to Operators, Maintenance, or I/E.
  • Communicate unloading/loading instructions as required.
  • Optimize process working with engineering and maintenance proactively.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Shift Supervisors are direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Self‑starter with ability to direct hourly workforce and influence positive change.
  • Possess problem‑solving aptitude and the patience to pursue complex problems methodically.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment prior to consultation with supervisor.
  • Must have a hands‑on approach and strong work ethic.
  • Prior knowledge of product operations and transfer systems are a plus.
  • Able to pass employment physical and drug testing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Four‑year degree in management, business, or other similar field with at least 5 years’ experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Willingness to comply with a stringent EHS policy and be comfortable working in a strong safety culture.
  • Must have above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and be self‑directed with only general supervision.
  • Proficient computer skills are a necessity (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an Industrial setting - while performing the duties of this job, the employee is potentially exposed to chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The ability to wear a respirator is a requirement. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
