Job description

Position Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading warehouse, transportation, inventory, and facility operations to ensure exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and employee development. This position plays a critical role in achieving safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance objectives while supporting the Company's long-term growth and operational excellence.

The Operations Manager works closely with supervisors, drivers, warehouse personnel, sales teams, customers, and executive leadership to drive continuous improvement, develop employees, and ensure operational processes are executed consistently across the branch. This position requires strong leadership, business acumen, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily warehouse, transportation, inventory, and facility operations to ensure safety, service, productivity, and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, coach, and hold supervisors and team members accountable for performance, policy compliance, and operational results.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, labor efficiency, inventory accuracy, fill rates, damage performance, and service metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, payroll efficiency, employee retention, and workforce planning to support operational demands.
  • Ensure inventory control processes, quality control procedures, and shipping operations are executed accurately and consistently.
  • Oversee facility maintenance, equipment readiness, security practices, and vendor relationships to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Lead safety initiatives, compliance programs, inspections, and corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment and achieve safety goals.
  • Partner with sales, transportation, and customer-facing teams to resolve service issues and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and cost-control initiatives to support financial performance.
  • Drive process improvement, Lean initiatives, operational planning, and strategic projects that improve efficiency, service, and employee engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of warehouse, distribution, transportation, logistics, or operations leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing operational KPIs, labor planning, budgets, inventory control, safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
