Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Trainer to support each of our Nevada Gold Mines operation. The successful candidate will engage with several key internal and external stakeholders to initiate and support safe and responsible mining operations.

 Responsibilities:

  • Excellent and demonstrated personal commitment to health, safety, and training.
  • Facilitate new miner, experienced miner, hazard, site and task specific training courses as needed.
  • Collaboratively engage with several key stakeholders to reach objectives.
  • Collaborate with organizational subject matter experts to solve a range of complex problems and develop feasible and sustainable solutions.
  • Work to accomplish job tasks with minimal supervision while receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Lead the alignment and facilitation of new hire (new miner/experienced miner), Fatal Risk, NGM Train the Trainer, hazard, site, and task specific training courses as needed.
  • Excellent training record management in accordance with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain site compliance to ensure that employees have the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude to perform their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. 
  • Conduct observations and employee engagements in collaboration with the operating departments.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, alignment, and management of organizational systems and programs.
  • Continuously seek out learning opportunities to develop and strengthen skill sets. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Lead the implementation of a Competency Based Training program that ensures information is delivered in a manner that employees will retain.
  • Lead the management of a Learning Management System (LMS) to maintain legal obligations, meet competency-based training expectations, and optimize efficiencies.
  • Lead the alignment, planning and scheduling of Annual Refresher Training for all NGM employees.
  • Maintain document control and management in accordance with ISO and company expectations.
  • Develop teaching outlines and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops to meet company needs.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for site trainers and able to lead the training team in place of the supervisor for short periods.
  • Assist in the standardization of NGM standards, procedures, and planned task observations.
  • Audit and review training courses, materials, and programs for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in alignment of site initiatives or operational excellence opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • MSHA Instructor Certification (blue card) required
  • Five (5) years of experience in mining, construction or heavy equipment industry required
  • Thorough knowledge of MSHA, State, OSHA and ATF regulations required
  • Proven experience in working with peer groups and focus teams required
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy required
  • Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent leadership skills and knowledge of influencing others required
  • Ability to promote safety in training and lead by example required
  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook preferred
  • Proven safe work record required
  • Effective time management to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast-paced, demanding environment required
  • Demonstrate and maintain good attendance and performance records required
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and confidently present data in a manner to promote ideas and opportunities to lead improvement preferred
