Job Summary

The O&M Tech Renewables position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the assets. The assets include solar generation equipment and battery storage, utilizing lithium batteries, power inverters, air handlers, control systems, and switchyard equipment.
This position will provide day to day operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repairs to the facility equipment.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Evaluating, maintaining, and repairing solar panel array equipment, breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD's.
  • Assisting/performing troubleshooting of solar and battery equipment, preventive, and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair /replacement and removal/installation of equipment and structures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
  • Assist in development and administer LOTOV program.
  • Must be able to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways at elevations of 80 feet and more; wear respirator.
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.
  • Will require 80% travel to remote site
  • Will support other renewables sites as required
  • Will support Martin Lake fossil site as required
  • Will be on a rotating call-out schedule

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, trade school, military service training programs, or tech training.
  • Additional professional training preferred.
  • Prefer maintenance or operations experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities/field.
  • Prefer I&C or Electrical experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities/field.
  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Must have knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to electrical maintenance
  • Working knowledge of CMMS. Familiarity with Maximo preferred
  • Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.
  • Experience working on both AC and DC power.

Key Metrics:

  • Satisfactory completion of job performance measures predominately composed of Signoffs demonstrating system operations and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with POC and management in operation, troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
