Senior Manager, Retail Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Senior Manager of Retail Operations reports to the President, Chefs' Toys
  • Located in Anaheim, CA
  • Contract, possibly contract to hire 
  • Hybrid

The Senior Manager of Retail Operations will oversee all aspects of retail operations with a focus on safety, facilities management, and operational efficiency. This position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in managing multi-unit retail operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies. The role also emphasizes close collaboration with Field Leadership, Human Resources, and the Company President to align operations with organizational goals.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Retail Operations Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and enforce standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and efficient store operations across locations.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize inventory management practices, minimize shrinkage, and ensure stock availability to meet customer demand.

Safety & Facilities Management

  • Develop and oversee safety programs, policies, and training to promote a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage maintenance, repairs, and vendor relationships for retail facilities to ensure stores operate smoothly and meet brand standards.

Process Improvement Initiatives

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce operational costs, and improve efficiency through innovation and technology.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in executing process improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence.

Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis

  • Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to monitor store performance and identify trends.
  • Analyze operational data to inform decision-making and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and customer satisfaction.

Training & Development

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on safety, facilities management, inventory control, and operational procedures.
  • Coach and support store managers and associates to ensure alignment with company goals and adherence to standards.

Project Management

  • Lead projects related to store openings, renovations, closures, and other major initiatives, ensuring successful execution within established timelines and budgets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align project goals with organizational objectives and customer expectations.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Field Leadership, Human Resources, and the Company President to align operational strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leaders, providing insights and recommendations on operational efficiencies and improvements.

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, safety standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements in retail operations.
  • Maintain and update safety and facilities protocols to align with changing regulatory requirements and best practices.

Communication

  • Establish and manage communication strategies, ensuring timely distribution of operational updates, safety protocols, and policy changes to retail teams.
  • Act as a liaison between store operations and corporate departments to facilitate alignment and drive results.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • 5+ years of proven success in multi-unit retail operations, including safety and facilities management, inventory control, and process improvement.
  • Strong proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and execution.
  • Hands-on experience with retail systems, including inventory management, POS, and operational software.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CAL-OSHA/OSHA standards and safety regulations.
  • Must regularly visit store locations and travel consistently to all stores to provide operational support, oversee projects, and ensure compliance with safety and company standards.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Field Leadership, Human Resources, and senior executives, including the Company President, to drive alignment and achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post-offer acceptance.
