Banyan Software

Toronto, ON

Full-time

Posted 17 days ago

Job description

Banyan Software is the best permanent home for software businesses that serve specialized industries, their employees, and their customers. We are on a mission to acquire, build, and grow great companies worldwide, helping them modernize through shared AI expertise and operational discipline. The Banyan Software Foundation, endowed with $100 million in Banyan stock, leverages technology to build a greener and more equitable world. Banyan is Great Place to Work Certified, a five-time Inc. 5000 honoree, and a top 10 company on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Atlanta, Banyan operates more than 100 portfolio companies across North America, the UK, EU, and APAC.

About Banyan:

Banyan Software provides the best permanent home for successful enterprise software companies, their employees, and customers. We are on a mission to acquire, build, and grow great enterprise software businesses around the world that have dominant positions in niche vertical markets. Founded in 2016 with a permanent capital base, Banyan follows a buy-and-hold-for-life strategy designed to preserve founder legacies and support long-term growth. Banyan is proud to be Great Place to Work® Certified, committed to making an enduring impact, and recognized for the last five years as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. on the Inc. 5000, as well as a top 10 company on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500.

The Role:

Banyan Software acquires vertical market software companies and holds them for the long term. Most People Operations roles maintain what exists — this one is about building what doesn't, with AI at the core. You'll be the builder of an AI-native global people operations engine, including HR and TA systems, workflows, compensation processes, data, and analytics.

A key early priority will be running the workstream to select and implement a modern, AI-enabled global HR system that connects into Banyan's broader enterprise data and technology platform. You'll partner across HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and the broader business to build the infrastructure, insights, and intelligent processes that enable better decisions and sustained growth.

  • People Operations & AI Execution: Own the day-to-day design and delivery of Banyan's core people infrastructure for our global HQ and Operating Groups — systems, processes, comp programs, data, and the AI-enabled workflows that make them faster and smarter.
  • People Processes & Workflows: Own the end-to-end design and delivery of core people processes across the employee lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, transitions, offboarding, transactions, and employee service. Build, ship, iterate. Drive efficiency through standardization and automation.
  • HR Operational Engine for HRBPs: Own the infrastructure that enables our decentralized HRBP model — HRIS configuration and governance, people services workflows, policy and framework documentation, and the tools HRBPs rely on to support portfolio companies.
  • Compensation Programs & Governance: Run global compensation programs and annual cycles. Own job architecture, leveling, benchmarking, and pay equity analysis. Build and maintain the decision frameworks that keep comp questions from escalating unnecessarily.
  • HR Systems Leadership: Lead the selection and implementation of a modern, AI-enabled global HR system — RFP, vendor evaluation, configuration, data migration, integrations, and rollout. Partner with IT on performance, security, and scalability.
  • Benefits Execution Infrastructure: Own the systems, processes, and operational workflows that support benefits delivery globally. You are the operational partner ensuring benefits infrastructure runs cleanly and integrates with HR systems as we grow.
  • HR Policies & Global Employment Compliance: Own Banyan's people policies and global employment compliance posture. Partner with Legal on employment law, employee data privacy, and jurisdictional requirements. Keep the handbook current and consistent.
  • Hands-on Automation & Workflow Build: Identify high-value AI and automation use cases across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee service, and comp cycles. Evaluate tools, configure them, ship the workflows, and measure impact.
  • Talent Acquisition Systems: Own the systems infrastructure that supports TA globally and integrations between TA tools and the broader HRIS. Partner with Talent Acquisition leadership to ensure the tech stack supports hiring velocity and a consistent candidate experience across the business.
  • People Analytics & Reporting: Build the global analytics capability. Define key metrics, ship dashboards, and generate predictive insights on attrition, hiring, comp, and engagement. Connect people data into the broader enterprise data platform.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing global team. Set priorities, establish operating rhythms, and hold a high bar for execution.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Hands-on People Operations builder. 8–12 years across People Ops or HR Operations in global organizations. You've personally built and shipped HRIS implementations, comp programs, analytics dashboards, and workflows.
  • AI and automation fluency. You've personally built and shipped AI-enabled people processes. You know the tools — HRIS AI, agent platforms, workflow automation, analytics AI — and you can tell vendor hype from real capability.
  • Policy and employment compliance fluency. You've built and maintained HR policies and managed global employment compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You partner well with employment counsel and know when to escalate.
  • Data and systems mindset. You think in systems and data flows. You understand how people data connects to a broader enterprise data platform, and you work credibly alongside data engineers and IT teams.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and scale. You make sound decisions with incomplete information, adapt quickly, and have operated in complex, decentralized, multi-entity environments.
  • Builder energy. You scale systems, processes, and infrastructure by building them yourself first. You balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking and finish what you start.
  • Collaborative and influential. You partner effectively across HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and business leaders. You influence without authority, communicate clearly, and deliver without surprises.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.

The expected base salary for this position is: CAD $180,000 - $230,000 excluding annual bonus and equity (when applicable). Salary is based on a number of factors including market conditions, location and may vary depending on job-related skills and experience.

We're building a team that reflects the diversity of the businesses and communities we serve. If this role excites you, we want to hear from you, even if your background doesn't match every detail above.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Equal Employment Opportunity at Banyan: Banyan affirms that inequality is detrimental to our Global Teams, associates, our Operating Companies, and the communities we serve.
