Job description

Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program. In addition, the hospital’s network of care includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living.

Under indirect supervision the incumbent is a journeyman Engineer who ensures proper repairs, operation, and maintenance of the facilities physical plant and grounds including refrigeration systems & associated equipment, HVAC mechanical, electrical including standby generators & ATS equipment, piping & medical gas equipment & fire alarm devices. The incumbent must maintain all applicable equipment in good operating condition. The incumbent will assist Management with ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met. The incumbent may access most secured areas for the purpose of providing a safe environment and/or repairs as directed by Management. The incumbent reports to the Director/Manager Plant Operations.

  • Inspects the physical plant, all equipment and grounds, including recording temperature, pressure, and voltage readings on equipment and performs building assessments for condition and safety.
  • Completes procedures within schedule limits, and provides follow up on deficiencies or problems found while performing procedures.
  • Completes routine service calls and works requests within schedule limits.
  • Prioritizes work within department scheduling standards and completes the work based on those standards
  • Performs maintenance testing and repair to the fire systems and equipment according to all regulatory standards.
  • Participates in fire drills.

Required

  • Technical School Position related technical training and journeyman trade level status required and Three years or recent facility experience in the operation and maintenance of a physical plant and associated equipment, upon hire and
