Position Overview

The DevOps Engineer will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of software systems and infrastructure, working within a DevOps Engineering team that supports multiple engineering teams in building, testing, and deploying their solutions to the cloud. This role is fully competent to handle complex programming, project management, and development assignments independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly on complex application and technical problem identification and resolution, including occasional off-shift and weekend support
  • Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components used across one or more applications or systems
  • Drive application development focused on delivering business-valuable features
  • Establish and maintain high standards of software quality within the team through good practices and habits
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team
  • Communicate with end users and internal customers to guide development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness
  • Perform integrated and customer acceptance testing that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results
  • Manage AWS IAM, troubleshoot cloud connectivity issues, and work with engineers on CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
Team & Work Environment
  • Hybrid role based out of the Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX office
  • Participate in regular internal team standup meetings
  • Serve as the assigned point of contact and support resource for specific engineering teams

Requirements

Education & Experience Required

  • High school diploma required; no degree required
  • 5-7+ years of software development experience

Required Technical Skills

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role
  • 5+ years of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud experience
  • Proficient with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and YAML-based CI/CD systems
  • Proficient writing and deploying AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation templates
  • Strong AWS experience with MLOps and AI services (e.g., SageMaker Notebooks, Bedrock, ECS/EKS, and IAM)
  • Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Analytic mindset and skilled problem solver for troubleshooting issues

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Associate or Professional-level AWS and/or Azure certifications related to DevOps, Development, or Architecture
  • Proficiency with AWS firewall and network configuration
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates
  • Experience with NVIDIA GPUs for AI use cases, specifically from a cybersecurity and governance perspective
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and enhance scalability
