Engineering Intern – Manufacturing & Design

Location: Silverton
Company: Pioneer Truckweld

Position Summary

Pioneer Truckweld is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support our dump body manufacturing and truck upfitting operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, production coordination, and custom truck equipment fabrication.

The intern will work closely with engineering, production, and purchasing teams while gaining practical experience using SolidWorks in a real-world manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student or entry-level candidate interested in manufacturing, mechanical design, fabrication, or heavy equipment industries.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with reviewing and processing incoming purchase orders (POs)
· Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for manufacturing jobs
· Utilize SolidWorks to assist with design modifications and customer-specific requirements
· Support creation of drawings and engineering documentation for production
· Assist in writing work orders for internally manufactured parts
· Coordinate with purchasing to identify materials and components needed for jobs
· Help organize production schedules and workflow
· Work with fabrication and production teams to support daily manufacturing operations
· Maintain accurate job and production documentation
· Support continuous improvement initiatives within engineering and manufacturing processes

Qualifications

· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or technical training in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, CAD Design, Industrial Technology, or a related field
· Basic experience or coursework using SolidWorks
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes
· Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications

Preferred Experience

· Familiarity with manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy equipment industries
· Experience designing or modeling parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
· Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and mobile equipment components
· Familiarity with 12V electrical systems and wiring concepts
· Exposure to production scheduling or purchasing processes
· Experience with ERP or manufacturing management systems is a plus
