You will have front-row access to entrepreneurs, founders, and CEOs across a wide range of industries, gaining a unique perspective on how successful software companies are built, scaled, and operated. Every conversation is an opportunity to learn about a new market, uncover a hidden software champion, and create the foundation for Banyan's next acquisition.

You will play a critical role in Banyan Software's sourcing efforts by identifying and engaging vertical market software companies, expanding our market coverage, building relationships with software business owners, and creating opportunities that ultimately lead to acquisitions.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Development, you will leverage your prospecting, relationship-building, and business development skills in a highly entrepreneurial environment.

Your efforts will directly contribute to Banyan's acquisition growth strategy. If you enjoy connecting with business leaders, uncovering opportunities, learning about new industries, and thriving in a performance-driven environment, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute outbound prospecting strategies using email, phone, LinkedIn, industry events, and conferences.
  • Build trusted relationships with software business owners, executives, and key decision-makers across assigned vertical markets.
  • Create and manage ongoing engagement and nurturing programs to maintain long-term relationships with prospective acquisition targets.
  • Conduct market research to improve Banyan's coverage within strategic verticals and uncover new acquisition opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with M&A Leaders, Portfolio Leadership, and other Banyan teams to drive business outcomes and share market intelligence.
  • Utilize Banyan's technology stack, data resources, and best practices to continually improve sourcing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and activity tracking in Salesforce, Gong Engage, and other internal systems.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed activity, pipeline, and sourcing KPIs.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in business development, software sales, account management, partnerships, recruiting, commercial banking, consulting, or a related client-facing role.
  • Proven ability to prospect, build relationships, and engage senior-level decision-makers.
  • Strong communication skills with exceptional written and verbal outreach capabilities. Naturally curious about software businesses, entrepreneurship, and how companies create value.
  • Comfortable learning new industries and quickly developing expertise in niche software markets.
  • Thrives in a metrics-driven environment and uses data to improve performance and decision-making. Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding goals, quotas, or other performance metrics.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong initiative, resilience, and a desire to continuously improve. Coachable, collaborative, and open to feedback.
  • Experience with CRM and sales engagement platforms is an asset.
  • Exposure to software, SaaS, financial services, commercial banking, consulting, recruiting, or M&A is considered an asset but not required.
  • Undergraduate degree required; business, finance, economics, or related disciplines are preferred.

The expected base salary for this position is: CAD $110,000 - $120,000. Overall Target Earnings range from $185K - $200K + Options (when applicable) and uncapped earning potential. Salary is based on a number of factors including market conditions, location and may vary depending on job-related skills and experience.
