Join UPMC Sports Medicine as a Manager, Business Development Athletic Training and play a key role in expanding and strengthening athletic training services throughout our communities. This leadership position combines strategic business development, relationship management, and operational oversight to drive growth, enhance partnerships, and advance high-quality sports medicine care for athletes of all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing athletic training relationships with school districts, colleges, and universities.
  • Maintain existing and new special event relationships with schools, groups, and organizations.
  • Actively seek out ways to promote and market to contracted schools to facilitate utilization of UPMC hospitals, outpatient sites, and clinics.
  • Develop reporting that quantifies and tracks targeted schools.
  • Make regular contact with targeted schools in creative and traditional ways.
  • Create and maintain a contract database.
  • Understand and support the mission of the Athletic Training Department and Sports Medicine in general.
  • Responsible for managing and maintain current and creating new business opportunities.
  • Assist newly hired staff to recognize and understand UPMC healthcare resources within their school community.
  • Ensure all agreed upon marketing and promotional assets are visible on site and websites at all contracted sites.
  • Create sponsorship and marketing opportunities. tracking during each fiscal year.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for sponsorship and marketing opportunities.
  • Create pre- and post-even marketing opportunities.
  • Work with clinical marketing to promote UPMC Sports Medicine service lines and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Work with UPP and Legal partners to create Requests for Review Forms to approve physician services at contracted sites and events.
  • Work with accounting to maintain updated contract billing information.
  • Work with accounting and finance on monthly reconciliation of aging report.
  • Work with Corporate Giving to create appropriate approval form and submission to review committee.
  • Responsible for order and distribution of clothing for Athletic Training staff and physicians, along with keeping an inventory of additional clothing on site.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Athletic Trainer experience preferred.
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with internal and external clients necessary.
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34, 33, 31, 73 with renewal
