Summary of Role
The Operations Control Specialist supports enterprise-wide operational control and compliance functions across multiple Operations units, including Payment Operations, Account Operations, Retail Operations, Card Operations, the Overdraft Program, and ATM Operations. This role works closely with the Operations Control Manager to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, risk mitigation standards, and operational best practices. The Specialist performs control testing, monitors compliance with established procedures, identifies risks, and assists in documenting and tracking remediation efforts.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine operational control testing across various Operations units.
  • Assist in identifying control gaps, process weaknesses, and compliance risks.
  • Support the validation and ongoing monitoring of controls for effectiveness.
  • Review operational procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Monitor regulatory updates and assist in evaluating operational impacts.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of testing results, findings, and follow-up actions. 2
  • Support the creation of control reports, dashboards, and risk assessments for management review.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials related to operational controls and compliance
  • Partner with Operations units to gather data and clarify processes during testing and assessments.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and other partners to support control related initiatives.
  • Participate in department projects, process enhancement initiatives, and regulatory response efforts.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Operations, Compliance, Risk, Audit, or a related function.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations such as Reg CC, Reg E, Reg DD, NACHA rules, Mastercard rules, and applicable NYS Banking regulations.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret procedures, identify control weaknesses, and analyze data.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Starting Compensation: $26.52 - $32.48/hr., plus a competitive benefits package
