Description Performs intermediate technical work conducting various housing and property maintenance code inspections and investigations, enforcing building and housing codes and ordinances, preparing and maintaining inspection files and records; and related work as apparent or assigned. Work performed under the moderate supervision of the Code Compliance Manager.
Essential Functions Enforces housing codes, rental property, vacant/abandoned building, dangerous building, and other City ordinances. Conducts routine, proactive, and complaint driven investigations and code enforcement; observes properties for property maintenance code violations such as peeling paint, deteriorating surfaces; junk as accumulation; inoperable vehicles; monitors vacant and abandoned structures. Preforms rental house and privately owned inspections and re-inspections while enforcing the Property Maintenance Codes; enforces and follows up on any violations throughout the compliance process.
Attends pre-trial and show cause hearings; gathers relevant documents and photos as needed; testifies as required during hearings. Prepares and submits all paperwork required to enforce codes regarding commercial, residential, and rental properties throughout the City; issues orders / notices and citations for violations of City ordinances; prepares periodic oral and written reports related to operational progress and activities; enters data into computer systems as it relates to compliance and/or non-compliance of the City's ordinances. Acts as a resource and contact for customers with questions regarding property maintenance codes, and rental registration through direct customer contact, phone, and mail.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associates/Technical degree with coursework in communications, law enforcement, business administration, or related field.
