Wieland is hiring an Operational Buyer. The Operational Buyer will be responsible for ensuring maximum Procurement leverage using the appropriate amount of consolidation of an entity, region, and division demand. This position will assume a leadership role in the development and deployment of site and regional category strategies that align with the Company and Business Unit's overall procurement strategy. This role is located in Louisville and will be fully on-site. Although this job is primarily on-site, travel will be required approximately 10% of the time.

Responsibilities
Operational Buyer Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate by partnering with the requirement owner to identify the most suitable supplier based on cost, quality, delivery, and service on the initiation of the order.
  • Identify new potential suppliers in partnership with the Strategic Buyer and support local strategic supplier initiatives by utilizing insights and trends to consult strategically with the business, plants, and suppliers.
  • Oversee quotation process by monitoring quotation returns and evaluate quotations commercially and, if necessary, technically.
  • Independently analyze, negotiate prices and payment conditions or other general conditions for ordering with suppliers.
  • Manage the entire ordering process including, but not limited to purchase requisition, monitoring deliveries, deadlines, resolution of discrepancies to meet production schedules all in collaboration with the supplier and business.
  • Participates on cross-functional teams to support strategic sourcing and operations initiatives by feeding data to the Strategic Buyers to support strategic projects.
  • Identify value creation opportunities by developing a deep understanding of each relevant business unit's requirements, challenges, and opportunities, and leveraging these insights to create and implement savings initiatives.
  • On a case-by-case basis, assumption of special tasks, such as minor enhancements in the ERP systems of the Procurement department or other assigned tasks.

Operational Buyer Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Business or technical-related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in procurement, indirect materials, supplier relations,
    manufacturing environments, stakeholder engagement and/or use of E-Catalogs.
  • Knowledge of the products procured and the supplier base, as well as the processes.
  • Procurement tracking and negotiations require advocacy with other divisions and suppliers for varying objectives.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP, and related systems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written throughout the organization and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Travel approximate 10% of the time.
