Position SummaryWe're seeking a motivated, organized leader to oversee all aspects of the Lawn & Garden Department. This includes merchandising and inventory management, customer engagement, product expertise, and associate training. Your goal is to drive growth, increase sales, create an exceptional shopping experience, and develop knowledgeable sales teams through ongoing product knowledge and salesmanship training.Lawn & Garden Department ManagerEssential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Management
  • Serve as the Lawn & Garden Department Manager and product expert..
  • Lead the continued growth and success of the Lawn & Garden category through strong merchandising, product knowledge, and sales leadership.
  • Train and coach sales associates across all stores on lawn & garden products, seasonal merchandise, customer service, and selling techniques.
  • Develop and maintain department standards, ensuring consistency.
  • Work closely with Store Leaders and the Merchandising Team to maximize sales opportunities and improve department performance.
  • Stay current on industry trends, new products, and seasonal opportunities to provide recommendations for inventory, merchandising, and promotions.
  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal transitions, promotional displays, and special events.
Customer Engagement
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Nyberg's ACE.
  • Take proactive measures to assist customers in resolving challenges.
  • Extend warm greetings to customers upon entry and throughout their store visit.
  • Demonstrate a friendly and approachable demeanor, fostering strong relationships with customers and fellow associates.
  • Prioritize prompt, courteous, and effective responses to pages and calls.
  • Escalate customer concerns requiring management intervention when appropriate.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of lawn & garden products while continually expanding knowledge of other store departments.
  • Deliver personalized recommendations and solutions that exceed customer expectations and uphold our commitment to amaze every customer on every occasion.
Operational Excellence
  • Foster a workplace culture defined by positivity, professionalism, teamwork, and safety.
  • Collaborate with store teams on receiving, stocking, merchandising, and maintaining lawn & garden inventory.
  • Help maintain appropriate inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Ensure the Lawn & Garden departments remain clean, organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
  • Oversee merchandising standards, end caps, promotional displays, and seasonal resets across all stores.
  • Assist with price changes, signage accuracy, and special orders.
  • Operate a forklift after proper training while following all safety procedures.
  • Promptly report operational issues to Store Leaders and assist in identifying solutions.
  • Recommend innovative merchandising, sales, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in store meetings and leadership discussions to promote communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
* Experience *
  • Previous retail management or department leadership experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of lawn & garden products, outdoor power equipment, fertilizers, chemicals, landscaping supplies, and seasonal merchandise is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong merchandising and visual presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and operating equipment.
Education/Training
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Additional training or education in horticulture, landscaping, or related fields is a plus.
