Assistant Supervisor Operations
The Assistant Supervisor Operations performs all EMT/Paramedic duties in addition to overseeing field personnel and making supervisory-level decisions which involve staffing and allocation of resources within established policy and procedure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
โ€ข Deliver high quality patient care and customer service within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols, and company policies.
โ€ข Serve as a leader and role-model to field personnel when responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
โ€ข Provide guidance and leadership to field crews as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
โ€ข Oversee employee task performance and serve as an advisor for decisions requiring interpretation of clinical delivery and company policies while in the field.
โ€ข Take corrective action when necessary with limited disciplinary authority after consultation with the Operations Supervisor.
โ€ข Assist with scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the work of field personnel.
โ€ข Maximize unit hours by continuously monitoring the schedule and operation via radio communication and in the field.
โ€ข Ensure that ambulance calls are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
โ€ข Verify that units are clean, stocked, and in working order; verify that buildings and grounds are clean and well kept.
โ€ข Ensure that all necessary patient care and billing documentation is completed accurately and within specified timeframes.
โ€ข Work with other members of the Management and Supervisory team to minimize problems, correct staffing and scheduling issues, and continuously improve service.
โ€ข Participate in the development, formulation, modification, and implementation of department policies, standards, regulations, and general operating guidelines and procedures associated with EMS delivery.
โ€ข Assist with and engage in the recruitment and training of new employees.
โ€ข Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, customers, stakeholders, peers, and members of the medical community.
โ€ข Assist the Operations Supervisor with various tasks as needed.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
โ€ข Minimum 1 year of EMS field experience (3 years preferred).
โ€ข Prior FTO or other leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
Education:
โ€ข High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
โ€ข Some advanced education preferred.
Skills:
โ€ข Ability to function as a Paramedic and perform direct patient-care activities in the field with a high level of proficiency.
โ€ข Thorough knowledge of equipment and supplies used in emergency care, patient care, and transport.
โ€ข Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
โ€ข Strong listening and comprehension skills.
โ€ข Ability to adapt to quickly evolving situations.
โ€ข Attention to detail and strong technical skills.
โ€ข Thorough knowledge of System Status management.
โ€ข Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
โ€ข Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
โ€ข Ability to successfully pass a Physical Agility Test.
Credentials/Licenses:
โ€ข State Paramedic Certification.
โ€ข State Driver's License with driving record in compliance with GMR's Safety & Driving policy (proof required if conditional employment is made).
โ€ข Ambulance Driver's License.
โ€ข BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, BTLS/PHTLS Certifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working Conditions:
โ€ข Frequently works out in the field and occasionally in an office setting.
โ€ข Works with others and alone utilizing phone, email, and face-to-face communication.
โ€ข Occasionally works extended shifts.
โ€ข Works day, night, and weekend shifts.
Physical Demands:
โ€ข Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.
โ€ข Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or operate objects/tools/controls, reach/pull with hands and arms, and drive an ambulance.
โ€ข Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
โ€ข Must be able to lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with the assistance of a partner.
Mental Requirements:
