Job description

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Development and Management, Operations Manager, the Campus Operations & Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for the campus community. This position requires adherence to scheduled pickup and drop-off locations, established routes, and all applicable traffic and safety regulations.

During periods of reduced shuttle operations, including summer and academic breaks, this position will assist the Facilities, Development & Maintenance (FDM) division with customer service, administrative support, campus operations assistance, and other departmental needs. The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, professional, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Safely transport students, staff, faculty, and guests according to assigned shuttle schedules and routes.
  • Arrive at designated collection points prior to scheduled departure times.
  • Adhere to passenger capacity limits and all traffic and safety regulations.
  • Ensure shuttle vehicles are clean, fueled, and properly maintained.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with passengers and campus community members.
  • Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely communication regarding scheduling or absences.

During periods of reduced shuttle operations, responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with campus customer service functions and front desk support.
  • Creating and distributing campus ID cards.
  • Assisting with various system setups and administrative support.
  • Supporting transportation coordination and departmental communications.
  • Running campus errands and providing operational assistance to the FDM division.
  • Assisting with special events, move-ins, orientations, and other campus support needs.
  • Performing related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and substitute for other drivers if necessary.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse, creative, and dynamic campus community.
  • Basic administrative and computer skills preferred.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Clean driving record required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience transporting groups of passengers preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Customer service experience 
  • Administrative support experience preferred

REQUIREMENT:

  • Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
