Financial Operations Analyst, Labor Analytics

The Labor Analytics Analyst partners with Finance, Payroll, and Operations to provide analytical support related to doctor compensation, labor expense, budgeting, and operational performance. This role is responsible for translating complex data into actionable business insights that support strategic decision making across the organization.
The Position
The Labor Analytics Analyst is a member of CareVet’s Financial Operations team, working alongside peers across Revenue, Pricing, Procurement, and Strategic Finance to support the company’s broader financial goals. Reporting to the Director of Labor Analytics, this newly created role reflects CareVet's continued investment in expanding its Labor Analytics function and will support CareVet's labor strategy, including doctor compensation, labor expense, budgeting, payroll support, and operational performance, by translating complex data into actionable business insights that drive decision-making across the organization.
Partnering closely with Finance, Payroll, Operations, and Clinical Leadership, the Analyst will investigate the drivers behind financial and operational performance, identify trends, explain business performance, and recommend opportunities for improvement. This role offers the oppotunity to become a trusted analytical partner to leaders across the organization, helping shape strategic decisions through thoughtful financial and operational analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop financial analyses that explain changes in labor expense, profitability, and operational performance while identifying the underlying business drivers.
  • Analyze doctor compensation models and labor trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to business leaders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Finance, Operations, and Clinical Leadership to solve complex business problems through data.
  • Design and develop new KPIs, analyses, and reporting that improve how CareVet measures and manages the business.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, reporting, and decision-making through data-driven recommendations.
  • Reconcile doctor compensation and payroll to monthly financial results while investigating and resolving variances.
  • Partner with Finance to support the annual budgeting process and ongoing labor forecasting.
  • Support strategic initiatives by providing thoughtful analysis and uncovering insights that drive business performance.
Required Skills amp; Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in financial analysis, business analytics, operations analytics, workforce analytics, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex business questions.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify key business drivers, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing business needs, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, work independently, and drive initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Located in the greater St. Louis area
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Power BI and Power Query
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, or compensation analysis.
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Payroll, or Operations teams.
