Job description

Summary:
The Operations Analyst is responsible for data analytics to provide business intelligence and designing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing new and existing system applications of ScanSource, Inc.'s ("ScanSource") Financial Services ("FS") team worldwide. The individual in this position will work closely with FS, business unit personnel, and Information Technology ("IT") personnel to determine relevant requirements and be involved in design reviews, systems testing, and data modeling on complex projects. This person will stay current with emerging technologies and apply prior experience to design and develop new applications, including enhancing FS tools through the integration of AI-driven capabilities and operational efficiencies across systems, processes, and risk assessments. The position will assist in analyzing results of and assist in implementing improvements for credit risk assessment utilizing commercial credit bureau reports and/or customer provided financial statements, along with internal ScanSource information. It will also require a working knowledge of trade credit underwriting functions including business relationships, risk assessment, resolution of past due balances, underwriting, financial statement analysis, collateral and security arrangements, bad debt reserve, and recovery of doubtful accounts.
The successful person in this position must demonstrate effective leadership skills and the ability to drive performance in business intelligence and operational support. This highly motivated individual must be able to implement change and have a positive impact on the team.
Essential Job Duties:
Operations
Responsibilities include the administration, coordination and management of routine and ad hoc operational activities. Function as the primary liaison with ScanSource IT and FS third-party software providers on behalf of the FS team including but not limited to:
  • Submit and manage tickets to completion on behalf of the FS team regarding systems, commercial credit bureau reports, data analytics, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Provide periodic communication to FS team on the progress of FS IT tickets.
  • Assist in the alignment of account portfolios for team members

  • Data Management
    • Support the management of scheduled and ad-hoc operational activities, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks.
    • Help collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources.
    • Ensure data integrity and accuracy through rigorous validation techniques.
    • Assist in extracting, preparing and analyzing data for the benefit of FS Leadership (e.g., proper alignment of account portfolios within the FS team, Financial Review reports, call queue activity, etc.).
  • Business Insights
    • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to understand their analytical needs and provide data-driven recommendations.
    • Translate complex data findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
    • Reviewing and requesting proper approval for vendor invoices in a timely manner.
    • Extract, prepare and analyze data for the benefit of the FS Leadership.

Support the Maintenance of Existing Applications and Ad Hoc Reporting
Support and maintain the existing applications including benchmarked data and provide business intelligence through existing and ad hoc reporting.
  • Updates and enhances existing applications.
  • Deliver ad hoc reports on demand from existing database.

Leadership and Teamwork
Responsibilities include exhibiting confidence in self and others and providing leadership, guidance and direction to other FS team members regarding basic processes and procedures and fielding general requests/questions on behalf of the FS team regarding day-to-day responsibilities. The individual will inspire and motivate others to perform well, effectively influence actions and opinions of others, give and accept feedback and look for ways to encourage team growth.
  • Provide guidance to FS team members through daily interaction on business issues and in organized group settings (e.g., department meetings, training sessions).
  • Ensure compliance to guidelines and procedures in adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and work cooperatively to address and resolve any potential findings.
  • Encourage team members to implement process improvements and to identify potential inefficiencies within existing processes.
  • Set an example for the FS team by putting the needs of the team above one's own interests and demonstrating a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Communicate and coordinate with FS Leadership to ensure consistency within the team.

Business Process Efficiencies
Assist with the development and implementation of process improvements to promote efficiencies and improve customer experience.
  • Rethink, redesign, and implement business processes to achieve improvements in service, quality, speed, and cost.
  • Recommend and execute technology improvements to drive productivity.
  • Analyze and make enhancements to processes that are inhibiting the achievement of business needs.
  • Analyze the cost effectiveness of current and future financial vendor relationships relative to the benefits they provide.
  • Encourage and develop business practices to enable ScanSource to advance its competitive position.

Supports FS Leadership and Team
Assist with the development and achievement of goals as they relate to the worldwide objectives of ScanSource and FS.
  • Develop and manage reporting to ensure adherence to FS guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure consistency among the FS team members through constant communication with FS leadership.

Reporting Relationships:
The Operations Analyst will report to the Manager, Financial Business Analysis, Financial Services. Internal contacts include all business, support, and administrative units of ScanSource. External contacts include senior and mid-level vendor personnel and business partners.
Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor degree in computer science or related field and/or two to four years working experience of web related development experience, including technical experience in database design and product support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate well to all levels of management.
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making, and timely follow-up skills with demonstrated abilities to work well within defined time restraints and pressures situations.

  • Ability to rapidly learn business processes from a functional perspective and then create custom applications to scale business processes on a worldwide basis, supporting multiple languages and currencies.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in database development methodologies, design, implementation, and tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, SAP, etc.)
  • Proven understanding of application life cycle, including specification, documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Advanced PC skills.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with credit risk assessment, underwriting, and accounts receivable management.
  • SAP experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be physically in attendance at workstation at designated company office location during normal business hours designated for this position.
  • Ability to travel ten percent (10%) of the time.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds.

Compensation:
Compensation: $55,000
Actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on a number of variables including work experience, education and skills/ achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer. This position is not eligible for a variable pay component as part of the hiring range.
