Job description

Description:

We are seeking an Accounting Manager who is responsible for managing key areas of the financial close process, revenue recognition, project costing, WIP analysis, financial reporting, and team mentorship. This role acts as a key resource for the accounting team, backs up the Controller as needed, and helps ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. The Accounting Manager must have broad experience in general accounting and a strong understanding of GAAP, including an understanding of ASC 606 Contract Revenue Recognition.  In addition to managing revenue forecasts, margin analysis, and WIP reviews, this role delivers insights to leadership on project performance and overall financial health. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Project Management, Operations, and the Finance team to drive execution of company financial goals. The ideal candidate is motivated to develop, lead, and continuously improve processes, playing a critical role in supporting the company’s rapid growth and operational excellence.


*This is an on-site position 4 days a week.


Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee the financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

· Mentor, lead, coach others on the finance team.

· Research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.

· Act as a backup for the Controller when needed.

· Perform contract and revenue recognition analysis in compliance with company policies GAAP.

· Track and analyze project costs, providing margin and project health insights to leadership.

· Conduct WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and analysis to maintain accurate project financials.

· Perform deferred and unbilled revenue analysis to ensure appropriate revenue recognition.

· Support revenue forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.

· Manage commission accounting, ensuring timely and accurate commission payments based on project billings.

· Prepare financial reports for project managers and leadership to support strategic decision-making.

· Partner with business leaders to understand operational processes and identify potential issues.

· Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

· Complete other accounting and special projects as assigned


Qualifications: 

Required

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

· Minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience, preferably with a project / revenue focus

· Experience in Project-Based Engineering & Manufacturing organization

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and advanced formulas

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner cross-functionally

· Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines

· Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail


Preferred

· CPA or CMA with public accounting experience

· Power BI experience helpful

· Prior experience in percentage of completion accounting preferred

· Experience in high-growth, dynamic environment
