Job description

REPORTS TO: Director Business Integration

SUPERVISES: IT Infrastructure Engineers and Administrators

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Manager of IT Infrastructure is responsible for leading the teams that maintain systems, networking, database, and datacenter infrastructure. This role includes managing individual contributors and ensures the achievement of departmental goals, effective project participation, and reliable daily operational support. The Manager is accountable for the performance, availability, and security of all infrastructure technology, including on-premises and cloud environments and the networks that support them, in meeting information technology and operational technology needs. The Manager will be responsible for meeting the IT infrastructure needs of today and creating plans, roadmaps, and resource strategies to modernize and evolve IT infrastructure to meet future needs based on AUSA business strategy. A strong background in systems administration and systems engineering related to database management, datacenter operations, disaster recovery, cloud computing, and networking is essential. The Manager will collaborate with IT Leadership and peers to design, implement, and continuously improve the IT infrastructure environment to meet business goals.
  • Leads, manages, and mentors the IT Infrastructure team, including IT systems, networking, database, and cloud computing infrastructure professionals
  • Oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of all infrastructure components, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and modernization in support of business goals.
  • Manages changes in priorities, funding, scope, and timing to maintain alignment between business expectations and IT Department plans and budgets.
  • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Runs processes for effective oversight, asset management, and change management related to IT infrastructure.
  • Anticipates and plans for the long-term needs of the IT environment, including technology direction, investment, and simplification opportunities. Interacts with the IT leadership on all matters related to IT projects, and business leaders on IT initiatives that support specific business units.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient and effective operation and modernization of IT infrastructure.
  • Negotiates and administers vendor and consultant contracts, and service agreements to get best vendor value and performance for AUSA.
  • Identifies innovative technical and process solutions that drive the desired performance in cost, quality, compliance, customer service and revenue.
  • Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to by self and team.
  • Set goals and expectations for systems, networking, and database support teams. Monitors and manages employee performance through regular feedback and adherence to AUSA HR policies and practices.
  • Manages physical equipment within AUSA data centers, including HVAC, UPS, fire suppression, racks, servers, appliances, and related infrastructure.
  • Works with managed service and cloud computing vendors to ensure high operational availability, performance, and resilience of all IT infrastructure-related managed services.
  • Leads, develops, updates, and documents lifecycle of IT infrastructure.
  • Participates on Disaster Recovery Response Team and develops and maintains IT-related DR processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • (7) Seven years or more of technology leadership experience required along with the ability to multitask, delegate, and work quickly under pressure.
  • Proof of continued education within the IT environment, preferred.
  • Experience with aspects of IT infrastructure and operations, on premise and in the cloud, in manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Microsoft, ITIL, or Service Professional certification required. Project Management Professional (PMP) courses or certification, preferred.
  • Ability to lead the entire project lifecycle of application and technology system projects to successful completion which includes gathering requirements, design, procurement, build, test and hand off to operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams/organizations
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills are required.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to train, coach, and mentor.
  • Ability to travel 10% of work time.
