This role combines expertise across multiple areas, from industrial process automation to software development. We welcome exceptional candidates from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. The ideal candidate is an adaptable problem solver who can enhance automation systems to support ArcelorMittal Calvert’s business goals.

The Basics

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a field related to engineering, computer science, or data science
  • Proficiency in computer programming
  • Experience working in a production environment

The Extras

  • Experience working in the metals industry
  • Experience working in level 2 process automation (according to the Purdue Model)
  • Experience in software development, especially .NET framework and C-family languages
  • Experience working with SQL databases such as Oracle SQL
  • Experience working with human machine interfaces (HMI’s) such as WinCC

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Maintaining, improving, and developing level 2 automation systems for the ArcelorMittal Calvert hot strip mill
  • Developing software solutions using a range of programming languages including FORTRAN, C++, and C#
  • Maintaining databases that record critical process data
  • Conducting incident investigations using specialized tools such as IBA
  • Conducting statistical analysis to tune physical models and improve system performance
  • Maintaining digital tools including human machine interfaces (HMI’s) and shop-floor camera systems
