JOB TITLE: Manager of Fraud Analytics

REPORTS TO: VP of Credit Risk & Analytics

JOB PURPOSE: The Fraud Manager is a leadership position within the Analytics Department. This is a hands-on, strategic-thought role with a focus on fraud (detection, prevention, investigation, & analysis) from application to payment collection. The Fraud Manager's key objectives are to minimize the impact of fraud, prevent loss, provide underwriting modeling support, & forecasting in coordination with the analytics/underwriting teams & operations teams. The Fraud Manager will also work closely with other teams throughout the organization to find & reduce incidents of fraud in acquisition sources, applications, & within the current customer base. This position will be responsible for organizing the fraud team, summarizing information, & ensuring fraud-related tasks are handled in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team of fraud specialists in their day-to-day fraud sweep process to monitor applications for suspicious activity, ensuring the fraud team stays on task.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Credit Risk & Analytics to proactively build the Fraud strategy roadmap that includes the assessment & mitigation of fraud on new applications, card/ACH loan funding, account takeover, & payment collections.
  • Proactively analyze fraud patterns, develop fraud prevention strategies, & implement strategies to prevent loss due to fraud. Evaluate multiple data sets to surface patterns of fraud & risk.
  • Lead in researching, analyzing, & automating fraud & risk detection processes.
  • Monitor current risk metrics & create new KPIs to monitor & track fraud prevention efforts, losses, disruptions caused, fraud rates, & overall impact to the company.
  • Continually assess emerging fraud threats & proactively analyze strategies & controls to mitigate fraud risk.
  • Build monitoring & alerting systems to track the impact & continued effectiveness of controls in place.
  • Using data to quantify, prioritize & conduct root cause analysis of risk vectors through detailed analysis & testing. Then report on findings & recommendations.
  • Perform ongoing research into fraud solutions as it applies to the business. Initiate & lead data study efforts related to potential solutions from 3rd party vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Science team in the development of models & analytics to detect & mitigate fraud risk.
  • Work within the Analytics department & interdepartmental partners to turn insights into effective fraud risk mitigation solutions.
  • Work closely with the Sr. BI Analyst & appropriate resources within the Legal & Compliance department to develop & maintain policies to support compliance & compliance issues related to UW, data, & fraud.
  • Lead business analysis for collections studies, including identifying, validating, & reporting on account payment fraud.
  • Work with key stakeholders in collections to help define key success factors, critical needs, & solutions to ensure success for the collections department.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, &/or commensurate work experience. Experience with fraud & risk management is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced SQL experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of financial products, processes, & procedures preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal & written communication skills, effective data storytelling.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills using data to identify gaps, & surface mitigation opportunities.
  • Proficiency leveraging large datasets to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively both within the department as well as interdepartmentally.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with tactical actions.
  • Robust analytical skills & high attention to detail with the ability to interpret data, organize information, & summarize findings.
  • Ability to understand the scope of issues big & small when relaying information.
  • Ability to dive-in to day-to-day workings of multiple processes & understand the full scope of their functions & responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated history of seeing the big picture, driving change, & managing results while executing against multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
  • A self-starter with the ability to independently manage work & drive multiple deliverables concurrently.
