Job Profile Summary:

The Operational Risk Manager Sr. – Digital Assets position will drive change and lead the design, implementation, and administration of the second line of defense oversight for one or more assigned Business Segments, or Level 1 risk categories with a focus on Digital Assets. This position’s core responsibilities can include ongoing governance of the operational risk frameworks, policies, and charters, serving as committee chair, completing quantitative and qualitative assessments, driving analysis to support the oversight and assurance that business processes are appropriately identified and assessed related to Digital Assets.

Summary:

The Operational Risk Manager Sr. – Digital Assets position will drive change and lead the design, implementation, and administration of the second line of defense oversight for one or more assigned Business Segments, or Level 1 risk categories. This position’s core responsibilities can include ongoing governance of the operational risk frameworks, policies, and charters, serving as committee chair, completing quantitative and qualitative assessments, driving analysis to support the oversight and assurance that business processes are appropriately identified and assessed related to Digital Assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and evolve the Digital Asset Risk Management Framework.
  • Update pillar specific documentation to reflect digital assets risk activities as appropriate.
  • Provide independent review, challenge, and oversight of first-line digital asset activities, including proposed new or expanded use cases.
  • Escalate material digital asset risk issues and themes to executive management, the appropriate governing committee, and/or the BOD.
  • Participate in governance forums overseeing digital asset risk and direct remediation where gaps or deficiencies are identified.
  • Provide insights on applicable digital asset-related rules, and regulations to assess their applicability in coordination with compliance and corporate legal teams.
  • Provide advisory support and credible challenge on compliance and operational risks associated with digital asset activities.
  • Perform and/or provide SME guidance on third-party risk management due diligence of new and existing vendors/business partners related to digital assets.
  • Document digital asset risks and controls across applicable processes.
  • Establish metrics to assess performance of digital asset third parties.
  • Define and maintain digital asset specific KRIs and risk limits, calibrated based on activity size, scale, volume, and complexity.
  • Monitors pertinent key risk indicators and investigates and reports on adverse movements or aggregation of risk across segments.
  • Identify, develop, and analyze metrics and key performance indicators to enable the measurement or risk to ensure segments and programs are meeting business objectives.
  • Supports the independent risk assessments and risk management process reviews, and independent representation of Operational Risk Management (ORM), including effectively influencing colleagues and leading initiative outside of the Operational Risk organization.
  • Support the enhancement of ORM analytics including the development of scorecards and dashboards, as well as identification of tools and techniques to automate our analytical environment while assessing and recommending tools and techniques to automated information systems control verification processes.
  • Chair second line of defense Operational Level committees as assigned, participate or present in Management level committees and leading or participating in working groups/committees to address and resolve issues.
  • Identifying and recommending solutions for negative trends or risk events and leading implementation of operational risk strategies and initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains Op Risk policies, procedures, process maps, and manuals as required, and complete operational reporting for the Operational Risk Committee (ORC) and Pillar Risk Assessment (PRA).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 7 years of related experience within Risk management and or Digital Assets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within the digital asset industry at a leading firm.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and the ability to communicate and present requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with all businesses.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate through complex situations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence leaders in a cross-matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Compensation Range:

$93,000 - $189,000 annual salary range

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
