Job Summary
The Transformation & Operational Risk Expert is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and improving operational risk across the commercial trade lifecycle. The role partners with front office, middle office, operations, technology, and risk teams to strengthen operational resilience, improve process efficiency, and support the evolution of ConocoPhillips' commercial operating model.
This position combines operational risk management, business process transformation, data governance, and continuous improvement to help create a scalable and high-performing commercial organization.

The Transformation & Operational Risk Expert plays a key role in identifying operational risks, improving business processes, and enabling commercial growth through operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
Operational Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks across commercial activities.
  • Develop and maintain operational risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • Lead root cause analysis and remediation efforts for operational incidents.
  • Monitor operational performance and emerging risk trends.

Trade Lifecycle Oversight
  • Monitor performance across trade capture, confirmation, scheduling, settlement, invoicing, and close processes.
  • Identify process bottlenecks, control gaps, and operational vulnerabilities.
  • Support implementation of controls that improve reliability and operational resilience.
  • Evaluate operational impacts associated with new commercial products and business initiatives.

KPI & Performance Management
  • Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) measuring operational health and efficiency.
  • Design dashboards and management reporting to support decision-making.
  • Monitor issue aging, exception trends, and process performance.
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on operational performance metrics.

Data Governance & Quality
  • Monitor data quality, completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and lineage.
  • Partner with Technology and Data teams to improve data governance practices.
  • Support implementation of data quality controls and monitoring processes.
  • Promote consistent use of data standards across commercial functions.

Transformation & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead initiatives that improve automation, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support implementation of new systems, digital tools, and operating models.
  • Drive process standardization and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in operational risk, commercial operations, middle office, process improvement, or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial trade lifecycle processes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting LNG, natural gas, power, crude, shipping, or commodity trading businesses.
  • Experience with operational risk frameworks and controls.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management principles.
  • Experience implementing automation and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or equivalent certifications.
