Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Program Manager with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will:
  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and management for a complex technical program involving multiple projects, stakeholders, workstreams, and contractual requirements.
  • Be responsible for program execution across cost, schedule, performance, risk, quality, staffing, and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, oversees technical and operational activities, ensures alignment with strategic goals, and serves as the primary interface with customer leadership and internal executives.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide overall program leadership, management, and oversight for a complex technical program.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer, corporate leadership, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

    • Plan, direct, and coordinate program activities to ensure successful execution of technical, operational, and contractual requirements.

    • Manage program scope, schedule, cost, staffing, performance, quality, and risk across all task areas.

    • Lead integrated program planning and execution across multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, operations, cybersecurity, logistics, finance, and contracts.

    • Establish and maintain program governance, management processes, reporting structures, and communication plans.

    • Monitor program performance and take corrective actions to address issues affecting cost, schedule, technical performance, or customer satisfaction.

    • Oversee development and maintenance of program management plans, integrated master schedules, risk registers, status reports, and other management artifacts.

    • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, organizational policies, and applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

    • Direct subcontractor and vendor performance and ensure effective integration of partner contributions.

    • Support business rhythms such as status meetings, program management reviews, milestone reviews, executive briefings, and customer engagements.

    • Identify, assess, and manage program risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities.

    • Lead change management efforts, including technical changes, contract modifications, staffing changes, and evolving customer priorities.

    • Oversee resource planning, workforce management, and personnel performance to ensure the program is properly staffed and aligned to mission needs.

    • Ensure technical teams are supported in delivering quality solutions that meet mission, operational, and performance objectives.

    • Drive continuous improvement across program execution, delivery processes, customer engagement, and operational performance.

    Functional Duties
    • Develop and execute program strategies, roadmaps, and management approaches for complex technical efforts.

    • Translate customer requirements and mission objectives into executable plans and measurable outcomes.

    • Lead integrated product teams and coordinate activities across multiple functional disciplines.

    • Track and report program status using quantitative and qualitative performance measures.

    • Analyze program data to identify trends, forecast issues, and support decision-making.

    • Resolve escalated issues involving technical execution, staffing, customer concerns, subcontractor performance, or schedule impacts.

    • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, decision briefings, and customer communications.

    • Support proposal efforts, transition planning, onboarding, and program startup activities, when required.

    • Ensure alignment between technical execution and contractual obligations.

THIS HYBRID POSITION REQUIRES 3 DAYS OF WORK IN THE OFFICE AND 2 DAYS REMOTE PER WEEK
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Program Management, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience, including substantial experience leading complex technical programs.
  • PMP is desired
  • Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance
  • Significant experience managing large, complex technical programs or portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success managing program cost, schedule, performance, and risk in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in technical, operational, or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of program management principles, lifecycle management, and performance reporting.
  • Experience managing customer relationships, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executives, technical staff, and customer leadership.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $139,000.00/Yr. - USD $232,100.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
