My Father's Barbeque

Carson, CA

Job description

Head Chef / Kitchen Operations Manager - My Father's Barbeque (Carson, CA)

Where Southern Tradition Meets California

My Father's Barbeque is rebuilding for its next chapter - a fast-casual smokehouse built on consistency, teamwork, and flavor. We're looking for a Head Chef/Kitchen Operations Manager who can take full ownership of the back-of-house, leading people, controlling costs, and executing at a high level every day.

This is not a creative-only role - it's a leadership position for someone who can organize, train, and run a kitchen like a business.

What You'll Do
  • Lead all kitchen operations: prep, line, cleanliness, and daily production.
  • Manage ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Control food and labor costs with weekly tracking and accountability.
  • Schedule, train, and coach a kitchen team of 4-10 people.
  • Maintain a spotless, compliant kitchen ready for any health inspection.
  • Execute consistent recipes and portions across all shifts.
  • Report weekly results to ownership (labor %, food cost %, staffing updates).
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Head Chef in a busy full-service or fast-casual restaurant.
  • Strong leadership - you build respect, not fear.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, cost management, and kitchen scheduling.
  • ServSafe certification
  • Hands-on cooking and line experience.
  • Bonus: experience with BBQ, smokehouse, or catering operations.

What We Offer

  • $6,000-$6,500/month base pay, depending on experience.
  • Quarterly performance bonus tied to food cost, labor, and kitchen standards.
  • Clear growth path and long-term stability with a respected local brand.
  • Supportive ownership and professional development.
Who Should Apply

Apply if you can lead by example, teach systems, and bring order and pride to a kitchen that's ready to grow.

Don't apply if you only want to cook - we need a manager who can build structure and lead people.

My Father's Barbeque is Los Angeles hottest new Southern BBQ eatery. Located in the center of Carson Ca. Newly expanded and remodeled. We specialize in great food and hospitality.
