Position: Controller

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Status: Full-time

A growing Midwest-based services organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial oversight for multiple operating entities. This is a newly created role due to company growth and offers broad exposure across operations, leadership, and strategic finance.

Key Responsibilities for Controller
  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end close, including preparation and review of financial statements
  • Manage accounting and reporting for multiple operating and real estate entities
  • Lead, mentor, and review work of accounting staff; ensure strong internal controls
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; provide variance analysis
  • Support capital projects, construction accounting, and fixed assets
  • Partner with operations and leadership to provide financial insight and decision support
  • Assist with cash management, intercompany activity, and liquidity planning
  • Coordinate audit and tax support with external CPAs
  • Build financial models and analysis for ROI and strategic initiatives
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements
Ideal Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred)
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience (public + industry preferred)
  • Experience in service, manufacturing, or operationally intensive environments
