Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Knoxville, TN

Reports to: CFO ERP

System: NetSuite

Industry: Industrial Manufacturing (Reverse Osmosis Membranes)



Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and timely month-end close. The role includes managing the staff accountant(s), maintaining internal controls, and supporting operational and strategic finance activities in a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

· Manage and mentor the staff accountant and other accounting personnel.

· Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.

· Oversee general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), inventory accounting, and fixed assets.

· Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements including sales tax compliance.

· Coordinate with external auditors for financial audits and tax compliance.

· Develop and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.

· Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting activities.

· Manage NetSuite ERP accounting functions and recommend process improvements.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and R&D teams.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

· 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

· Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing processes.

· Experience with NetSuite ERP highly preferred.

· Proficient in Excel and financial reporting tools, including AI integrations.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Strong team leadership skills with proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate an accounting team of varying experience levels

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and a low tolerance for error

• Proactive, self-starter and solutions-oriented; able to identify problems and implement fixes without waiting to be directed

• Effective communicator, able to liaise clearly with internal stakeholders, outsourced partners, and external advisors

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is primarily office based at the company’s manufacturing facility in Knoxville. However, the CFO will be able to approve remote working for up to two days per week, after three months in the job, dependent on satisfactory performance in the Accounting manager role. The role requires regular use of a computer, financial systems, and video conferencing tools.


Compensation: $110k-$125k (DOE)
