Job description

Robert Half is currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and support sound financial decision-making for our client in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can oversee close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and deliver clear reporting to leadership. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical judgment, a solid grasp of general ledger management, and the ability to improve visibility into financial performance through reliable reporting and forecasting.


Responsibilities:

• Direct monthly close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are recorded accurately.

• Oversee general ledger integrity by reviewing transactions, maintaining proper account structures, and resolving discrepancies.

• Prepare and approve journal entries and reconciliations to support complete and accurate financial reporting.

• Coordinate audit-related deliverables, respond to auditor requests, and help maintain compliance with accounting standards.

• Analyze inventory balances and related variances to improve accuracy and support operational decision-making.

• Develop budgets and forecasts in partnership with leadership, tracking results against expectations and highlighting key trends.

• Produce KPI and financial performance reports that provide meaningful insight into business results.

• Utilize NetSuite and advanced Excel tools to manage data, streamline reporting, and strengthen accounting processes.


The position will require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a CPA or MBA is preferred. The position is 100% onsite and will require some to live in the local Knoxville or surrounding areas

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and financial reporting activities.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience supporting or leading financial statement audits in a business environment.
• Ability to perform inventory analysis and identify trends, inconsistencies, or areas requiring corrective action.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and data management.
• Background in budgeting and forecasting with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight.
• Demonstrated skill in preparing KPI-based reports and communicating results clearly to stakeholders.
