Job description

Foundation and Shoring Solutions is a small, specialized geotechnical construction company focused on delegated design, design-build, and value-engineering projects. We design and install deep foundation and excavation support systems for demanding projects throughout the region.

We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to build a long-term career in specialty construction, not simply a short-term job. No prior experience is required. We will train the right person from the ground up and provide opportunities to learn a wide range of construction skills and equipment operation.
Our goal is to develop highly capable, interchangeable team members who understand every part of our operation and can contribute wherever they are needed.
New employees begin by shadowing an experienced team member and learning how our shop, service trucks, equipment, and project sites operate.
Your initial role will be as a Field Operations Trainee , working on the ground in front of the pile rig. Responsibilities and training will include:
  • Directing rigs and operators safely around the jobsite
  • Guiding equipment from location to location
  • Learning how to properly connect and handle materials
  • Directing the rig while the operator feeds material
  • Understanding pile installation and geotechnical construction procedures
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work area
  • Working as part of a coordinated field crew
As your skills and experience develop, you will receive opportunities for seat time and training on a variety of equipment, including:
  • Skid steers
  • Mini excavators
  • Boom forklifts
  • Pile rigs
  • Drill rigs
  • Other specialty construction equipment
You will also have opportunities to learn torch cutting, welding, fabrication, equipment maintenance, and other specialty construction skills.
The long-term goal is for team members to become capable of working across as many aspects of the business as possible.
Experience is not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals who have the right attitude, work ethic, physical ability, and willingness to learn.
We pay for appropriate job-related training and certifications, including OSHA training.
Starting pay is generally $16-$23 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Employees with relevant construction, equipment operation, welding, fabrication, or geotechnical experience may qualify for a higher starting rate.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
  • Is dependable, hardworking, and willing to learn
  • Is comfortable working outdoors and around heavy equipment
  • Is physically fit and physically confident enough to work safely on demanding jobsites
  • Can work safely in both summer and winter weather
  • Can follow directions and communicate effectively with coworkers and equipment operators
  • Takes jobsite safety seriously
  • Has reliable transportation to and from our yard
  • Is willing to learn multiple trades and equipment operations
  • Wants to develop a long-term career in specialty construction
  • Spanish/English bilingual ability is a plus
You do not need previous construction experience. We value attitude, reliability, safety awareness, and the desire to learn.
Schedule & Travel
  • Typical start time is 5:30-7:00 AM, with approximately 6:00 AM being typical
  • Employees travel in company vehicles to and from project sites
  • Travel time is paid
  • Most projects are within one hour of our Millersville yard
  • Projects are rarely more than 1 hours away
  • We rarely work out of town
  • We rarely work weekends
  • Preference is given to candidates who live approximately 15-25 minutes from our Millersville yard
  • $16-$23/hour starting range, depending on experience
  • Higher earning opportunities on prevailing-wage projects
  • Paid travel time
  • Company-provided job-related training
  • OSHA and other applicable certifications paid by the company
  • One week off for every six months worked
  • Eligibility for 401(k) after one year
  • Company 401(k) match of 50% of the employee's contribution
  • Bonus and profit-sharing opportunities when applicable
  • Progressive opportunities to learn and operate heavy equipment
  • Opportunities to develop welding, fabrication, torch-cutting, and other specialty skills
