Allan Myers is looking for a hard-working Field Operations Trainee (Skillbridge) who is eager to learn about the heavy civil construction industry. This Trainee will be responsible for assisting the Crew Leader in the management of a crew, conducting morning safety huddles, and effectively communicating with their team members. This position is designed to prepare the Trainee for a Field Manager role within a 1-2 year time period.

Responsibilities:
In this developmental role, Trainees will perform basic laborer functions on the crew while learning to become responsible for the following tasks.
  • Ensures laborers report for work on time and in compliance with all policies regarding appearance and being "fit for work".
  • Procures all necessary materials and equipment.
  • Ensures that the work environment is safe for all employees.
  • Determines which employees will be responsible for which tasks while on the jobsite.
  • Ensures that their laborers' production is at a sufficient level and maintains documentation for recommending promotions, etc.
  • Maintains materials usage documentation.
  • Provides initial training for new hires and continual training for all team members.
  • Maintains "Image of Excellence" housekeeping. Documents the safety status and overall fitness of all machinery and company equipment under their supervision.
  • Communicates with the Equipment Shop on maintenance and repair via email.
  • Leads team safety meetings for their crew. Reports incidents and injuries to Superintendent and HSE Team immediately.
  • Forwards members' concerns/complaints to Human Resources. Works with Superintendent on appropriate disciplinary measures.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of employees, displaying significant management and leadership experience. Proven excellence in carrying out drive, results-oriented job duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience in a heavy/civil construction industry preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment, hand-held equipment, and general commercial construction preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of safety practices within a construction environment preferred, but not required.
  • Known for taking action, building consensus, being influential, and making purposeful decisions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to frequently lift heavy objects over 60lbs.
