What is an operation manager?

Operation Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and improving the day-to-day operations of a business or organization. Their duties typically include managing staff, optimizing processes, ensuring quality standards, and coordinating between different departments to achieve organizational goals. Operation Managers play a key role in increasing efficiency and productivity while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and compliance with company policies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an operation manager?

To thrive as an Operations Manager, you need strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, project management tools, and Lean or Six Sigma certifications is often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building abilities help an Operations Manager drive performance and foster a positive work culture. These skills and qualifications are vital for optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring organizational goals are met.

How does an operation manager typically collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth business operations?

Operation Managers frequently work cross-functionally, coordinating with departments such as finance, HR, sales, and logistics to align operational processes with organizational goals. WOODHOUSE DAY SPA

Operations Manager

About Woodhouse Day Spa
Woodhouse Day Spa is a modern luxury day spa dedicated to delivering results-driven treatments and exceptional hospitality in an elevated, serene environment. Our leaders are the stewards of that experience
— responsible for the people, operations, and financial performance that make the Woodhouse standard possible every single day.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-driven, guest-focused Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our spa. This is a working leadership role — you'll be part of the regular front desk schedule, taking on the full responsibilities of that role, with dedicated office time built in to complete inventory and administrative work. You'll be the connection between inventory, retail merchandising, and the guest floor — ensuring the spa is always fully stocked, beautifully presented, and running smoothly.
What You'll Do
  • Work regularly scheduled shifts on the front desk, taking on the full Spa Coordinator role
  • Use dedicated office time to manage inventory counts, receiving, and administrative reporting
  • Perform monthly inventory counts for retail and back bar and communicate reorder needs and out-of-stocks to the Regional Director of Hospitality & Operations
  • Occasionally place spa supply orders and receive and put away all incoming orders
  • Reconcile invoices, receiving reports, and daily deposits
  • Merchandise retail products to drive guest sales
  • Lead daily huddles and coach the team on performance and guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and readiness of the entire spa facility

What We're Looking For

  • 2-5 years of retail sales or inventory management experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, multi-tasking customer service environment
  • Flexible availability including evenings and weekends

What Success Looks Like
  • Zero out-of-stock on top retail and back bar items
  • 100% invoice matching accuracy
  • Shrinkage held at 2% or below

What We Offer

  • Competitive management-level compensation
  • Complimentary and discounted spa services
  • A collaborative leadership team invested in your growth
  • Clear performance goals and accountability structure
If you love running a tight, well-stocked operation and leading a team that delivers, we want to hear from you.
