Job description

Position Overview:


We are seeking experienced Utility Operator to join our Civil Division asap. This position plays a key role in supporting the success of our underground utility installation and civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, reliable, and skilled in operating various pieces of heavy equipment in a range of civil construction environments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate excavators, backhoes, skid steers, dozers, and other utility construction equipment
  • Follow site plans, utility locates, and project specifications with precision.
  • Perform trenching, expose existing utilities, and complete backfilling and compaction work as required.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, reporting any maintenance needs or issues.
  • Work closely with site supervisors and crew members to meet project timelines.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.


Qualifications:


  • Experience as a utility operator in civil construction or underground utility installation required.
  • GPS experience would be an asset (Topcon or Trimble).
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Strong understanding of underground utilities, trenching practices, and safe digging techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices in civil construction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and shift rotations as required.
