Job Description:

The Junior Systems Engineer is an entry-level position in the field of systems engineering specifically with Microsoft Windows Servers. This system engineering is a discipline that focuses on designing, integrating, device patch and vulnerability management, and managing complex systems throughout their entire lifecycle. These systems will mainly be server systems and software applications for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Additionally, they will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of software systems and providing technical assistance to both internal teams and external customers. They diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to system maintenance and enhancements. In addition to system engineering responsibilities, they will aid and assist in cybersecurity mitigation and support for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Windows server vulnerability and patch management

Supporting Senior Engineers: Junior Systems Engineers often work closely with more experienced engineers to learn and assist in various tasks related to system design, development, and maintenance.

Documentation: They may be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation, including system design specifications, process documentation, and configuration management records.

Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues with systems, applications, or infrastructure components. This may involve troubleshooting hardware or software problems.

Testing: Conducting tests and quality assurance activities to ensure that systems meet performance and reliability standards.

System Maintenance: Assisting in routine system maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and backups.

Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, and project managers, to ensure systems meet project requirements.

Requirements Analysis: Participating in requirements gathering and analysis to understand the needs of the system users and stakeholders.

Research: Staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the improvement of systems and processes.

Collaborating with design teams to perform in-depth root cause analysis, especially when dealing with component-related issues.

Documenting decisions and adhering to established standards.

Communicating effectively with business groups.

Designing, developing, and implementing production fixes and enhancements.

Participating in an on-call rotation team to address issues 24x7.

Executing regular changes on the application infrastructure to maintain supportability and disaster recovery compliance.

Maintaining business continuity plans, ensuring data quality, and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Desired Skills

Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Nutanix)

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)

Experience with networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Experience with security technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption)

Experience with programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)

Detailed understanding of multiply operating systems and proper device management

Microsoft cloud system and security management

Skill working with server and device patch management tools (Ivanti, Microsoft SCCM or Azure Arc)

Qualifications

Relevant degrees such as Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields with 2-3 years with experience in similar role

Proven track record as a server system engineer.

Hands-on experience in building and maintaining modern server systems, server middleware and server patch management

2-3 years of experience in system administration or a related field

Strong knowledge of Windows server operating systems, software, and hardware

Experience with system troubleshooting and problem solving

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
